The images above were taken on November 5th’s San Francisco photowalk. Thanks to the time change, we got a lot of night shooting in. We started at the Hilton on Kearney street with a crowd of about 30 photographers. There were old and new faces alike.
The first thing we did was head to the elevators, pile in, and head up. We filled three cars — and they were really full. The views of Coit Tower and North Beach are unrivaled from here.
After some shooting from the stairwells, we headed toward the Hyatt at the Embarcadero. Along the way we shot neon, windows, and pretty much anything that we could focus on. Once we reached the Hyatt, we headed up for a view of the Ferry Building. The Hyatt interior is an amazing place to shoot. There are great sculptures, and the lines of the interior balconies just beg to be shot.
Once we finished shooting at the Hyatt, we took a break at Osha, a Thai restaurant near the hotel. The restaurant was not very busy on a Monday night, and we were able to get seated right away. The food was great, and the photo opportunities were abundant.
After dinner it was once again time to walk. This time we headed down Market Street, shooting street scenes and buildings along the way. After a quick stop at the Osha on second street (Thomas Hawk knew some people who were having a party there), we headed back towards the Hilton, and people drifted off to their various parking spots along the way.
It’s always great to get out and shoot with a group. Thomas deserves special thanks for sharing some of the great spots for getting those really dramatic and stunning shots of San Francisco. And thanks to everybody who came out and made this another great night of photowalking!
