April, 2008 Archives

Moose’s restaurant in North Beach has been sold, and the iconic neon moose is now gone. Here are the two photos I have of the sign:
Moose's
Moose's (day)

The new restaurant is named Joey & Eddie’s. Their new sign is coming tomorrow. One sign comes to town, one sign leaves town….

The theme for the April Challenge was “Entropy” — that is, things falling apart. There were a lot of great shots from the participants, and a lot of variety in the interpretation of Entropy. If you want to see for yourself, check out all the shots tagged with aprilchallenge2008 on flickr.

You can also check out my April Challenge set.

And, just to keep it interesting, here is a video made from my April Challenge photos:

Nobody Reads Anymore

Day 30 of the April Challenge.

Screaming Howler over on flickr contacted me recently to ask for permission to use a photo of mine as a background texture. The photo he wanted to use was this one:
Blue Cracker

All my photos are licensed under the Creative Commons, so of course he was welcome to use the photo. Today, he posted the finished product:

It’s a great feeling when somebody else can make use of one of the images that I have posted.

Richmond Fire Station No. 7

Week 17 of the 2008 Challenge. This fire station is located at 2904 Hilltop Drive in Richmond.

This is the last of the seven Richmond fire stations that I will be shooting for the 2008 Challenge. I will eventually post a photo of the building that housed the first Richmond fire station, but that’s for later. Now I need to come up with something to shoot for next week.
