The second of seven fire stations in Richmond that I will be shooting for the 2008 Challenge.
This fire station is located at 1065 7th Street in Richmond.
Do you recognize this building as 444 Market Street? If you go to San Francisco and try to find 444 Market Street, you will never find it. The address no longer exists. However, if you look for 1 Front Street, you will find this building. What is going on? Why do some people call it 444 Market, and some call it 1 Front?
I got curious, so I went inside and asked the people at the security desk, and here’s the story.
Apparently, this building used to have the address 444 Market Street. However, it was sold, and the new owners changed the address to avoid any association with the previous owners. The security people said that they still have equipment marked “444 Market”, and people still call it 444 Market. So I think I will tag my shots of this building with “444marketstreet” and “1frontstreet” just to add to the confusion.
